Cassie and Tyler’s summer wedding in Agoura Hills at the Lodge at Malibou Lake had so many happy tears of joy shed I practically needed a bucket. The couple chose the Lodge at Malibou Lake, a lakeside wedding venue nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains, to say “I do”. This venue boasts over 80 years of weddings and celebrations for the families of the Malibou lakeside community. Seeing its gorgeous historic lakeside location and that the Lodge had both indoor and outdoor areas, Cassie and Tyler knew this was the place for their big day. I love doing weddings photos in the Agoura Hills area because its such a beautiful elegant place with lots of beautiful outdoor wedding venues.
Cassie chose light greens and pale blues and also white roses with adorable blue thistles in her florals for her perfect summer wedding. Eucalyptus and cascading greenery adorned a birch awning and wooden tabletops. A few hints of gold in her jewelry and decor juxtaposed perfectly with the rustic furniture.
The reception area at the Malibou Lodge is a perfect mix of rustic with historic Hollywood glam. Its bar area has leather and velvet furniture, beautiful antique glassware and definite hipster vive. It’s reception and dining area is spacious and light with white paneled walls and modern farm tables and chairs.
Not to be outdone by the decor, Cassie wore a gorgeous lace button back dress with cream undertones that matched the gold tones in her accessories. The train stole the show as it flowed and cascaded with a sheer lace splendor that was both classic and modern. Her ring was a gold stacked oval with halo diamonds and she wore a modern octagon shaped bangle bracelet. Travis wore navy blue which perfectly stood out amongst the groomsmen grey suits and blue ties.
During the Jewish marriage ceremony, the couple crushed a glass. The glass also has several symbolic meanings associated with the wedding and remembrance of jewish experiences. They offered their guests traditional Jewish Kippah’s to wear for the celebration.
During dinner, guests were serenaded by one of the brides closest friends as she gave a surprise performance with gorgeous vocals. Guests danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Joel Macht. Cordelia, the Lodge’s resident chef.
If you have been to a Jewish wedding, then you’ve been lucky enough to see the traditional lifting of the bride and groom up in chairs during the reception. It’s always over the top, edge of your seat fun!
We were graced with perfect weather and the bride and groom are insanely photogenic. Malibou lodge is like a painting and there aren’t many venues or couples as gorgeous as this around.
I love first looks with the groom. Not only did Cassie and Tyler do this, the bride also set up a first look with her father and many loving brothers. She read cards to her parents and there were more than a few emotional moments to capture. The family love and closeness was one of the highlights of the day.
We had such an amazing time walking around the lake taking sunset photos on the dock and down a tree lined path. Sunset is always the best time to take photos and it can be a lot of fun to sneak away from the party for a little while to frolic in the first sunset together as man and wife.
