Marfarm is a farm stay vacation rental and ranch wedding venue in the heart of picturesque San Luis Obispo County and Edna Valley, a hidden rustic gem for couples seeking a unique wedding experience. MarFarm (short for Marshall Farm) is effortlessly rustic, modern and elegant- it’s a unique airbnb wedding venue oasis in the country for wedding guests to spend the entire weekend together and have an intimate and also affordable ranch style barn wedding of their dreams. Nestled in the rolling hills and surrounded by vineyards, MarFarm is a captivating ranch wedding venue that seamlessly blends rustic decor with sophisticated and chic remodel of traditional spaces- like their converted dairy barn that now serves as an intimate dining space.
MarFarm is a dream wedding destination wedding venue and air-b-and-b, and I was so excited when Krishonda and Jeff reached out to tell me that had decided to get married there and wanted me to be their wedding photographer. Krishonda and Jeff are very special people to me- years ago when I first starting my career I was hired to photographer Shonda’s brothers wedding. That begun my friendship with their amazing family- a group of people who are so kind, loving, and generous of spirit. A few years later I was hired by Krishonda’s twin sister to photographer her wedding- yes you heard that- twins!
And so it was of course only fitting that I would also shoot Krishonda’ and Jeff’s wedding at Marfarm ranch a few years later. Who else can say that they photographed every sibling with a single family’s wedding day, plus twin sisters? I have come to know all of them as the most amazing people and feel really blessed that they trusted me with these precious days in their lives.
Krishonda and Jeff were married at Marfarm barn- a VRBO located just a short drive from the charming town of San Luis Obispo. Their wedding really highlighted Marfarms unique features and the unforgettable experience it offers to couples on their special day who might be looking for a rustic barn with a more elegant feel.
MarFarm boasts an idyllic location that captures the essence of California’s Central Coast and Edna Valley and offers an airbnb that families can rent for the entire wedding weeknd. The venue is enveloped in the beauty of nature, with sprawling vineyards, lush gardens, and panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The views from Shonda and Jeff’s ceremony were incredible- it was a wedding ceremony full of so much beauty and love. This picturesque landscapes serve as a breathtaking backdrop for wedding ceremonies and create a romantic atmosphere that lingers throughout the rest of the wedding day.
Krishonda, radiant in her sleek modern gown and traditional veil, walked down the aisle with a delicate bouquet of fresh roses, her eyes tearing up with joy. Jeff, looking dashing in a sleek black suit, awaited her with an infectious smile that spoke volumes about the love they shared. I especially loved Jeff’s shoes- the most sophisticated patent leather combat boot’s I have ever seen, perfect for his edgy style. They are both so striking and gorgeous, and the love between them was easy to see.
What made this celebration truly special was the emphasis on family and prayer. Instead of a grand spectacle, the couple chose to keep it intimate, inviting only those closest to their hearts. Each guest played a significant role in the couple’s journey, and the bond they shared was palpable. Family and close friends gathered around a quaint wooden triangle shaped altar adorned with roses, creating an atmosphere that felt both timeless and contemporary. A warm summer wind carried their promises of love out over the valley- it was such a special and unforgettable ceremony. their wedding had boho vibes and rustic elegance all blended together.
Krishonda and Jeff’s wedding style really complimented the warmth and natural tones of the Marfarm ranch setting- the chic elements of the wedding were evident in every detail and blended in seamlessly to the rustic backdrop. They used white roses and babies breath and sprigs of Pampas grass to ornament a clean and sophisticated, modern ceremony set up. Their reception dinner was held in the dining hall which is a converted dairy barn, with one long communal family style table adorned with a zillion flickering candles- totally intimate and elegant. Their dinner was a candlelit affair centered around family, prayer, and laughter- I am a huge fan of family style dinner receptions.
One of the standout features of MarFarm is its timeless architecture, which seamlessly combines rustic and modern elements. The venue features a stunning barn that exudes warmth and character, offering a versatile space for both ceremonies and receptions. The interior space used to be a dairy barn and was transformed into a kitchen and long dining room perfect for an intimate dinner by candlelight- one of my favorite parts of Jeff and Krishonda’s wedding day. It is thoughtfully designed, with exposed wooden beams, high ceilings, and large windows that flood the space with natural light. This creates a charming and inviting atmosphere both rustic and modern.
Marfarm is like many of the SLO wedding venues and is family owned, and they have a personal relationship with each of their couple’s that is more than just a transaction- it feels like you are a friend and I love that about the Central Coast wedding industry. MarFarm takes pride in offering personalized wedding packages to meet the unique preferences and visions of each couple. Whether envisioning an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, the venue’s dedicated team works closely with the couple to curate an unforgettable experience. From selecting the perfect ceremony site to customizing catering options, MarFarm ensures that every detail is meticulously planned, allowing couples to relax and savor every moment of their special day.
As the sun set we took a walk around the grounds to take golden hour photos-For couples who appreciate the beauty of the outdoors, MarFarm provides incredible outdoor spaces for both ceremonies and receptions. The meticulously landscaped gardens and vineyards offer an enchanting backdrop for exchanging vows, while the expansive lawn provides a romantic setting for open-air receptions under the stars.
The venue’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the surroundings ensures that couples and their guests can revel in the breathtaking scenery throughout the celebration. I love that guests can sit around a fire pit and play bocce ball, kids can run across the lawns and play on the rope swing. It really has a family friendly feel.
As the evening unfolded, laughter and joy filled the air, mingling with the soulful tunes of music and the soft rustle of leaves overhead. The dance floor inside the barn was full of twinkling candles, and the children ran around with bubbles as Jeff and Krishonda had their first dance as man and wife.
This intimate summer wedding, with its rustic and bohemian vibes, was a testament to the power of love, family, and prayer. It wasn’t just an event; it was a beautiful journey that unfolded under the watchful eyes of nature, binding two souls together in a tapestry of memories that would last a lifetime.
